My Halloween picture. How is this a Halloween picture? What could be more scary for a cat than a visit to the vet? Andi on the vet's scale.
Taken: October 2017.

This is taken in very low light - just one 60 watt lightbulb in the room. Avensby on my cross legged lap, Andi on the blanket in the background. This is my world before I go to sleep. I don't use a bed, I just put blankets on the cement floor in the basement and sleep with the cats around me. I've done this since I was a child. My parents used to wonder why they would find me sleeping on the floor in the morning even though I had a bed. I like this, though for years I didn't tell people as I thought they would find it "weird" as my parents would say. Now that I'm an old man, I don't really care what others think of it. Besides, the cats love it and surround me at night. Over the years I've tried to "grow up" and use a bed, but I end up going back to the floor. At one point of my life, I had an 1880 house near a river. The basement had a cement floor, but it would flood a couple of inches deep now and then if there was a heavy rain. Because of that, I had 2 wood pallets on the floor to sleep on. One night, it rained heavily, and it flooded while I was sleeping. When I woke up, I was covered with house centepedes who had climbed up on me to get away from the flood. Luckily, I like house centepedes (the fluffy looking grey-tabby coloured centepedes). Here is something everyone who has house centepedes should know: they eat spiders, spider eggs, fleas, flea larvae and other little things we'd all rather not have in the house. They are not aggressive and not poisonous. How good is that? I think of them as grey tabby cats of the insect world. Why? Because cats keep away mice which are a problem for humans because of disease and getting into our food supply, and house centepedes keep away things like fleas, spiders, etc. Wow, did I ever get off-topic from a cat picture today!

I took this picture yesterday when I was taking a break in the sunroom when the sun finally came out for a bit. Andi looks much less like a space alien in this picture than the day before.

I think Andi might be a space alien posing as a cat, here to help humanity evolve. It's just a theory of mine.
I asked Andi for any words of wisdom, and her reply was a quote:
"I would rather have questions that can’t be answered than answers that can’t be questioned."

Odd picture for a cat picture of the day page. This is my last goldfish that I had since 2003. There were other goldfish, but over time I ended up with one. This fish died a little over 2 weeks ago. I never wanted fish, but a neighbour was getting rid of a pond to put in a pool and was about to dump the fish down a sewer. I happened to be outside and told him not to do that, and that I would take them. This picture is taken in the morning light, and for some reason, if all was right, it would split into a rainbow on the wall behind the fish tank. Over time I came to really like this one and the other fish - I did have them for 18 years after all.

Andi (tuxedo cat) looks young here. Actually, she was 10. To her right is her mom who I called Mumma-Puma. She was 14 when this picture was taken.

This is from 3 years ago yesterday. As soon as I get up on my zero gravity chair to relax, Patty comes up and does this. She will stay until I get up, and when I do get up, Patty gets annoyed with me and makes annoyed cat sounds.

Margarita gets the most interesting looks on her face. Her moods and emotions are ever shifting and clearly visible. She is fully emotionally honest. I don't remember what she was looking at, but this looks like she heard a noise as I was taking the picture. Take a look at the October 05 picture of her to see her happy face.

This picture was taken while I was making the cat tree. Elly-May on the top in the foreground, her mom (Mumma-Puma) behind her. Avensby on the middle shelf and Fiona in the blue plastic basket shelf.

Too bad the quality of this picture isn't better. I was looking back to October of 2019 just to see what was going on with the cats, and found this one of Norton on top of the box and Avensby inside. I built this cat tree on a whim in the late fall of 2017, and to this day it is still used constantly.

I had just tossed this blanket on the chair, and came back five minutes later to fold it up and found this - Patty had taken it over. Quite a cozy spot she found for herself. If you know cats, you can clearly see the, "Oh no, I'm going to lose my spot" look on her face. I just left her be.

Nice picture of Avensby with paintings of Cornelius in the background. Avensby has markings that are almost identical to what Cornelius had - including the spot on the nose. However, Avensby is a very small cat (around 8 pounds), whereas Cornelius was very big (around 26 pounds). Picture taken on the 5th anniversary of the day I brought Avensby home from the garden shed next door where she was born to a feral mom (her mom was very small too). You can see photos of those paintings in the background here.

Daisy is unsure about the All Hallows' Evening cat I put in the front window. Normally, the reflection in the window would ruin the picture, but in this case I really like the way it mixes with the two cats on the other side of the glass.

Norton upside down, passed out sleeping on my lap. He didn't even notice me taking the picture with my right arm holding the phone/camera above him.

Dexter cleaning/grooming Norton. These two are very close and will clean/groom each other. Norton looks really happy here. Picture is taken in very low light without a flash, so it is not the best quality.

Believe it or not, this is Margarita's happy face. She's on my lap.

Fiona having a good yawn. Because I take so many pictures of cats, it so happens that I've accidentally taken quite a few pictures of cats in the middle of yawning. I've gathered a few of them on a new page: Cats Yawning. I have barely even started finding them, as I have more than 70,000 cat pictures to sort through. I'll keep adding them to that page when I find them. This picture of the day is the first one on the new page.

I just love the colours in this picture. When I think of October, I think of beautiful colours. Margarita enjoying morning sun in her Leopard fur pattern bed on the sleigh on the side of the cat tree.
