Thursday September 30 2021 Pic of the Day.
Don't notice how much hair is stuck to the cat blanket. Instead, notice how Andi is intensely watching something. I followed the old maxim of not taking the picture until I saw the whites of her eyes - and her pink nose.

Norton is a going concern with nearly endless energy, but sometimes, he gets up onto my lap and passes out in the deepest of sleeps.

Andi takes her job of chief pineapple guard very seriously. She keeps an eye on the squash too.

Saturday September 25 2021 Pic of the Day.
Taken 4 years ago yesterday. Nice to see Chessie (brown cat on wood table) and Leon (orange tabby). Margarita in the middle on the glass table. Leon and Chessie passed away in 2018 - they were brother and sister from the same litter, and both died of the same type of cancer. They were both really nice, gentle cats.

Friday September 24 2021 Pic of the Day.
Looking back two years with three cats on my lap. Tuxedo is Margarita, tiny Forest cat is Fiona, and the Silver Abyssinian is Patty. The worst thing about this picture however is that I just noticed that the shirt I'm wearing in this picture is the one I'm wearing right now. By the way, Patty is a normal size female cat. Fiona and Margarita are my two smallest cats making Patty look big here.

Thursday September 23 2021 Pic of the Day.
Avensby is sleeping on the top of the cat tree, but I took the picture because of the colours. As you can see by the clock, it is 7:37 in the morning, and the sun is coming right into the window and creating a very warm & cozy atmosphere. Normally, when it is like this, there is a cat on the sleigh, but I had just fed the cats and they were still eating. Often Avensby will skip breakfast #2 (Breakfast #1 is normally around 4:30am), as she did this day. She is a night owl, and like she does often, she was up in the night playing & causing trouble, then when the sun comes out, she passes out.

Wednesday September 22 2021 Pic of the Day.
First day of fall in the northern hemisphere. Avensby always celebrates the first day of fall with her beloved concrete block. The block is actually there because of Avensby, not for her. I would come home and find Norton locked in the shower room. I was completely perplexed until I saw it happen one day. Avensby and Norton would be playing, Norton would run into the shower room, and Avensby would get behind the door and push it closed - NOT JOKING! I could not beleive my eyes. I would have thought it was a freak occurance if I hadn't found Norton locked in the shower room a few times before. Since I blocked the door with the concrete block, Norton has been saved the indignity of being locked up.

Tuesday September 21 2021 Pic of the Day.
Fiona in one of her pensive moods. In the basket by the window, staring out the window into space. Fiona is one of my favourite cats to photograph. She trusts me so completely, that she does not even bother to look over at me when I come up to her with the camera, affording me the opportunity to take a picture that captures the true spirit of her mind in the moment. This picture was taken this month. Go back to the September 03 picture of the day below to see a picture of her in May of this year in a very similar state of mind. She is not depressed by the way. Fiona makes the most of life. When something is not right in her opinion, she follows me around and hounds me with meows until I fix it.

Monday September 20 2021 Pic of the Day.
I was just about to take a picture of Norton, when Avensby came running into the room, leaped up against the wall to change direction, and scooted off again. When Avensby leaps up and bounces off the wall, it makes a very loud "bang". That is the exact moment I pressed the button on the camera to take the picture.

Elly-May on my lap giving me a stomach massage, while Patty relaxes beside me on the chair. Poor quality picture as it was taken in low light on a phone, but I really like the way Patty managed to find a spot even though Elly-May had taken over my lap.

I was just about to take a picture of Leon (orange tabby), Patty (silver Abyssinian) in middle, and Margarita (tuxedo) on the picnic table, when Dexter popped his head up into the middle of the picture and yawns. A classic photobombed picture.

Daisy is so very hard to take pictures of. I was perusing through pictures from three years ago and found this one of her. Not a very good picture I know, but it does a good job of showing the rich colours and very long fur she has. She used to get up on the dining room table a lot, but as she has gotten older, she doesn't do this anymore.

Wow - the movment of time. I remember taking this and it felt far more recent than just over a year ago. Avensby in the basket, Norton behind.

Sunday September 05, 2021 Pic of the Day.
Another picture with Patty. This time she is with Norton. Norton is the only cat that Patty likes. I've told the story before, but the short version is that Norton tried and tried to make friends with Patty, but for a year or more she resisted. Finally, Norton won her over and they are quite close now. I think Norton looks really happy and proud here. This picture was taken in very low light (one 60 watt bulb in a dark room) with a discount smartphone, so I'm really amazed at how well it turned out. That's Andi behind Norton, and just behind Patty's ear you can see Elly-May's ear, and a bit of the white, orange & black fur of her coat.
