This year is a leap year, and today is the leap day. My most "leapy" cat is Avensby for sure. This picture was taken after she was flying around the place, leaping from spot to spot. Even as she is resting, she looks appropriately like a flying squirrel.

Norton in the cat pen coming over to see what I'm up to. This picture captures an aspect of his looks I have not seen often, he even looks a bit like a different personality here.

Another picture of Mumma-Puma and her son Leon. This time when Leon was about 4 month old, and Mumma-Puma was 4 to 5 years old. I had just taken them and Leon's 4 sisters in almost 2 months prior to this picture.

One of the two cats next door. Her name is Dennis. I was out this morning walking Dexter, and she came over to say hello. The grass was covered in a heavy frost which looks fantastic in this picture, but I'm sure the cats were not impressed with their bare feet.

Last October sure is looking summer-like from a February perspective. Dexter on the leash, Andi by the trunk of the Manitoba Maple.

I took this picture the same day as yesterday's picture of Fiona. Not sure what Dexter was looking at here, but he is quite photogenic.

Friday February 16, 2024 Pic of the Day.
One of hundreds of pictures I have of Avensby in her asperagus box. I got her this box when she was a kitten from the grocery store, and to this day - 8 years later - she still uses the box almost daily. Luckily it is plastic, not cardboard. Avensby is a fairly small cat, and this box is quite small, that's why I got it for her as a kitten thinking it would only be a temporary spot for her to play. She took to it, and gets upset to this day if someone else gets in it.

Cozy picture of brother and sister Leon and Andi. On the back of the couch is the toy cow that was Andi's favourite toy.

Wednesday February 14, 2024 Pic of the Day.
I brought home Margarita on February 14, 2014. This picture is from 6 years after that. Margarita is a timid cat, and you can see it in this picture. Elly-May in the background eating cat grass.

Tuesday February 13, 2024 Pic of the Day.
This is the 3rd day Dexter was with the cat family. I keep any new cat in a pen for the first while, and take them out on supervised walks. This way the cats get to see and smell each other, but the chance of fights is reduced. Sometimes I hang the pen from the ceiling so there is zero chance of a fight, but in this case with Dexter, nobody seemed to bother him, and he was very curious about his new life. I don't think he had seen a fire before, as he was a bit nervous and fascinated by it. The other cat, the calico, is Mumma-Puma. Her 5 kittens that lived with me were 3 1/2 years old when I got Dexter. Mumma-Puma was concerned about a tom cat who had been a feral cat in the place with her kittens, and she kept an eye on Dexter for a few weeks. When her son Leon and Dexter became close friends, Mumma-Puma relented and even became close with Dexter. Interesting that when her kittens were that age, she still was very protective of them.

Dexter had been with the family for about 2 weeks when I took this picture of him with Patty. Patty made it difficult for them to be friends, but he did try.

Sunday February 11, 2024 Pic of the Day.
Today is the day 12 years ago I brought Dexter home. He was a very nervous cat, but 3 weeks later when this picture was taken, he had settled in fairly well. I remember the day bringing him home well, as there was a cold, windy snow storm in progress.

Saturday February 10, 2024 Pic of the Day.
This is a frame from a movie I took of Dexter when I first brought him home on February 11, 2012. He was a 4 year old feral tomcat. He was very bold, and looked right into the lens of the camera when I started taking the movie of him that this frame comes from. Dexter had, and still has, beautiful gold eyes with green centres around the pupil, though since he is 16 years old now, the colour is less intense. It was on today's date in February of 2012 that I first saw Dexter and agreed to adopt him, so I think of today and tomorrow as the anniversary dates.

Dexter can't figure out why the day is going so slowly.

Thursday February 08, 2024 Pic of the Day.
Andi keeps a close eye on her treasure chest. Not sure what she keeps in there, but she never lets it out of her sight for long. She looks pleased with it here.

Wednesday February 07, 2024 Pic of the Day.
I took this last Christmas day morning. It was raining. Andi wanted to go out for a walk because the day before was pleasant, but once she was outside, she hid under the cat pen while Dexter and Norton watch. Andi looks like she is tipping over, but she is just rubbing her neck on the cat pen leg.

Tuesday February 06, 2024 Pic of the Day.
Interesting picture to me. Margarita is cleaning her paw, but the picture caught her tongue twisted in a surprising way. I would have thought cat's tongues would have cleaned flat.

Monday February 05, 2024 Pic of the Day.
Avensby has a new friend, but I think she is a little unsure of the new cat. She seems to be giving it the "side eye". I was given this very nice carved cat the other day. Nice to see sunshine in early February too.

Sunday February 04, 2024 Pic of the Day.
I took this picture of Andi on Christmas Eve day. The lawn looks quite green considering the time of year. Even the leaves have more of an October look.
