And we end out January with another picture of Leon and Fiona. Nice to see them both looking so nice. They are on a sleeping bag in the sunroom in March of 2013. It was still cool in the sunroom, so I put this old sleeping bag out on the floor, and the cats made full use of it.

Sunday January 29, 2023 Pic of the Day.
The two previous days are pictures showing the closeness of Leon and Fiona. I think I will finish out this month with a series of pictures of them together over many years. So far I'ved showed them in 2013 and 2018, and today is of them together in 2016. This picture speaks for itself.

Saturday January 28, 2023 Pic of the Day.
Yesterday, I mentioned how close Fiona and Leon were, and that Fiona never recovered fully after Leon passed. Here is a picture taken 5 days before Leon passed. Leon had settled into this spot on the shelf by a window and was clearly not feeling well. Fiona got up, layed down beside him, and put her paw over Leon's paw and stayed like this until Leon fell asleep. This was deeply touching to me, and made me understand that even I might have underestimated how much cats are fully aware of.

Friday January 27, 2023 Pic of the Day.
Leon (orange tabby) and Fiona were very, very close. I have dozens of pictures of them together. When Leon passed away, Fiona never fully recovered.

I mentioned for yesterday's picture that Chessie had beautiful colouring on her stomach. Her mom (Mumma-Puma) had beautiful rich colouring on her back. She is here with Dexter watching me take the picture.

Tuesday January 24, 2023 Pic of the Day.
Today is the 5th anniversary of Chessie's passing. She is the brown tabby beside "Unkle" Cornelius. Cornelius was a 4 year old feral tomcat when found, but when I took in the mom cat with her 5 kittens after their barn burned down that they lived in, Cornelius took to the kittens in a way that was almost shocking. Chessie especially adored "Unkle" Cornelius, and would always try to be near him. Chessie is about 13 months old here. The colour of her fur on her stomach was so beautiful it was almost hard to comprehend. She had a demure personality and liked to get up on the back of a chair or couch when I was reading a clean my hair which used to make me fall asleep.

The previous two days I showed pictures from 20 years ago this month. This one is from 10 years ago this month. Mother and daughter picture. Mumma-Puma is the calico, and her daughter is the brown tabby named Chessie. Both passed away in 2018.

Another picture from January 2003 - I'm enjoying looking through these 20 year old pictures. Felemur would hold this foot up often when cleaning his stomach, and we would get a laugh at how the toes looked like a shocked face.

Cornelius 20 years ago! I remember taking this picture. Strange how 20 years can pass. I had my new digital camera for a week or so when I took this picture and was really enjoying taking pictures contstantly. It was not my first digital camera, but it was the first one that took really decent quality pictures.

Norton (left) and Avensby (tuxedo) sleeping on the top shelf of the cat tree. Both were feral cats born in my next door neighbour's garden shed. Both have the same mom, but were born one year apart. Norton just keeps on growing even though this year he will be 8 years old, but Avensby stayed a small cat. When I say Norton keeps on growing, I don't mean fatter, I mean bigger.

When I got a new phone in August of 2017, I decided to take pictures of all the cats that could be used for posters if they ever got lost. This picture of Andi is one of the pictures of her taken for that purpose.

Tomorrow, this picture will be exactly 20 years old. In early January of 2003, I got my first good quality digital camera. I had my first digital camera in early 2000, but the quality was so poor that it was frustrating, but it did work. This picture is of Cornelius with his paw on my hand. I had fallen asleep, and when I woke up, this is what I found. Because I had my new camera beside me, I was able to get this picture.

Yet another picture from 10 years ago this month. If you look to the Thursday, January 05 picture, you will see sisters Chessie and Elly-May in this exact position. This time it is Chessie with another sister Andi. Andi, Elly-May and Chessie were very close, and very close with their brother Leon and their mom. One of the kittens from the same litter, Daisy, is standoffish, and doesn't have anything to do with anyone, but I'm fairly sure Daisy was born with some kind of cognitive disability, so I (and the other cats) just let her be to live her life the way she wants.

2 of 5 siblings from the same litter. Chessie on the left, Elly-May on the right. Chessie passed away of pancreatic cancer 5 years ago this month, but I still have her sister Elly-May. Elly-May is getting older looking at over 14, but I'm happy to still have her. Hard for me to fathom this was picture is from 10 years ago this month.
