Tuesday February 28, 2023 Pic of the Day.

The end of February - a sixth of 2023 already passed. Speaking of passed, I was thinking of my cat Leon yesterday after posting the picture of him with Avensby, so I looked for a picture of him. What a nice cat he was.

Andi again, this time with Norton in a box. I have not seen Andi so content for years. You can see she is happy in yesterday's picture too. She had a big change in diet last year which was a difficult transition, but now I'm thinking it was worth the effort. Basically, we switched from dry to wet food. There is more to it than that, but that is the main thrust.

Today's Quote:

"Pussy cat, pussy cat
Where have you been?
I've been to London
To look at the Queen

Pussy cat, pussy cat
What did you do there?
I frightened a little Mouse
Under her chair."

- Mother Goose

Andi outside for a walk on January 2 of this year. It was a warm day for January, and Andi and I really enjoyed it. Andi always marches over to the catnip plant from last season to rub the screen around the brown, dried up plant. The screen protects the plant from local cats destroying it completely.

Photographs can be odd. They can make you look better or worse. Fiona is one of the prettiest cats I've seen, but this picture makes her look hideous. This is why I take many pictures each time I want to take a picture of the cats, as I know that most will not work out so well.

Today's Quote: "I wish I could write as mysterious as a cat." - Edgar Allan Poe

From 4 years ago. Interesting timeing that I would find this picture, as yesterday I was talking to someone about how amazing Avensby's whiskers are, and this is a good picture for showing that.

Today's Quote: "I put down my book, The Meaning of Zen, and see the cat smiling into her fur as she delicately combs it with her rough pink tongue. "Cat, I would lend you this book to study but it appears you have already read it." She looks up and gives me her full gaze. This is almost exactly 4 years after bringing Margarita home. She is in the basket top, centre. You can tell she finally felt at home, though it did take a long time for her. She is doing well, and we get along very well. Avensby is in her aspeagus box, Norton is in the basket on the left, and Dexter is on the top shelf.

Monday February 13, 2023 Pic of the Day.

Tomorrow will be the 9th anniversary of my taking in Margarita. She was a very nervous feral cat, and it took a lot of time and effort to get her to blend with the family. This picture was taken 5 days after I got her, and she was still very worried and confused, as you can tell by the look on her face.

Today's Quote: "A cat's got her own opinion of human beings. She don't say much, but you can tell enough to make you anxious not to hear the whole of it." - Jerome K. Jerome

This was taken a year to the day after I got Dexter. He and Leon became very close soon after Dexter joined the family.

Saturday February 11, 2023 Pic of the Day.

Today is the 11th anniversary of getting Dexter. I remember bringing him home on a windy, snowing morning. Poor Dexter was so confused and scared, he clung on to me for about 24 hours. We watched a movie together that morning 11 years ago. We watched Tron, and because of that, Dexter got the nickname "Tron". He had been a feral cat, and while he was clinging onto my sweatshirt, he was taken by the moving images on the computer screen. This is the first picture I took of him after getting him home.

Today's Quote: "A cat is never vulgar." - Carl Van Vechten

Picture Taken: February 2012.

Friday February 10, 2023 Pic of the Day.

Today is the 11th anniversary of first meeting Dexter. It was February 10, 2012, and I was getting cat food at the local store when I saw Dexter in a pen at the store. I was told he was a 4 year old Tomcat when found. I really took to him, and said I would take him. I could not take him home until the next day when I had to fill out forms at the local cat rescue place nearby. Dexter was not named Dexter at this point, and I saw the name Dexter in my dreams that night, and the next mornig when I picked him up, I said his name was going to be Dexter on the forms. This picture was taken 5 years ago, when Dexter started seeing something outside I could not see. For a long time, around the same time each night, he would stare out the window to a spot about 10 feet outside the window, about 10 feet up in the air. I tried and tried to see what he was looking at, but with no luck. If I got between Dexter and whatever he was looking at, he would quickly move to get a clear sight of whatever it was. I never fugured it out, and over time Dexter stopped looking.

Today's Quote: "People meeting for the first time suddenly relax if they find they both have cats. And plunge into anecdote."- Charlotte Gray

Saturday February 04, 2023 Pic of the Day.

Patty (the silver cat) does not have very good social skills, and consequently tends not to have positive interations with other cats. For a brief while, Elly-May befriended Patty, but got fed up as Patty would behave poorly. This picture was taken during the time of the brief friendship.

February 2023! Wow, sounds like the deep future to me. Here is a picture from the past - 20 years past to be exact. Cornelius playing with a toy I made for him. He really quite liked it. It was just a piece of cloth sewn into a 2 by 3 inch rectangle, stuffed with more cloth, and with a plastic strap from a shipping box tied around it.

Today's Quote: "Cats are the tigers of us poor devils." - Theophile Gautier

Picture Taken: February 2003.
