Another picture of Avensby. This is 2 days after I got her, and she is in the pen I set up for her. She was happy by this time, and you can see she is fulling enjoying her new place.

Happy Avensby Day!! On this day in 2016, I brought home Avensby from the neighbour's garden shed. She was confused and worried, but she came around quickly. This is her just a few moments after I brought her home. She was one of many feral kittens born to 3 mom cats in my next door neighbour's garden shed. I had too many cats already, but I knew she was for me.

When I was searching for yesterday's picture, I found this one of Elly-May. What beautiful colouring she has. About 5 months old here.

In the description for yesterday's picture I mentioned a feral/barn mom cat with her 5 kittens I took in. I looked around, and found this picture of the mom with the kittens in my log cabin that I lived in, in the woods of Central Ontario, Canada.

Cornelius had a teddy bear that he claimed as his. It belonged to my dad until he died. Mainly Cornelius used it as a pillow. More than once I saw him carry it to a spot to sleep, drop it, and rest his head on it and fall sleep. In late 2008 I took in a feral mom cat with her 5 kittens, and the kittens destroyed the teddy bear. I felt badly about that, but Cornelius was so happy to have the kittens, that he basically forgot about the teddy bear, and would sleep cuddled up with the kittens instead.

Cornelius was a big cat. More or less the size of a Maine Coon, but without the thick coat. If you look at his paws, and understand the person holding him is 5'10", you can get an idea. Cornelius loved being carried around outside.

If you look back to the Saturday, June 18 picture, you will see Andi on this shelf beside the clock. I put this shelf up for the cats who like high spots. I wasn't sure how the cats would respond, but they love it. This is Dexter up on the shelf. By the way, I live in a tiny home now after selling my overly large house that was becomming a burden to me. I'm older, and the house was getting old and needed updating which I just didn't have the energy to tackle anymore. I like the tiny house life so far, and the cats actually seem happier now than in the big house. I've tried my best to make the place as interesting and fun as possible, and overall, they seem to have taken quite well to it.

I took this picture showing the inside of one of the window boxes I put up for the cats. I'm inside, holding the camera outside the window. Avensby up top, and Margarita below.

I put a shelf up above the cat tree for the cats who like high spots. Andi can't figure out why the day seems to be going so slowly.

Can you tell Andi is annoyed with Avensby? Andi was resting when Avensby started causing trouble, then quickly tried to look innocent when I spoke up.

Margarita has very expressive eyes, and she has quite a direct, honest and intense personality which comes through in this picture.

I just took this picture this morning. Patty sleeping in the morning sun using the cat grass as her pillow.

Tuesday June 14, 2022 Pic of the Day.
A picture again of Daisy, but this time beside Fiona who is much, much smaller than Daisy. Daisy is actually a large cat and Fiona is a tiny cat. Daisy is about 16 pounds and Fiona is about 7 pounds. They are not directly related, but could be indirectly related as they were both found in the same general are. They were found 2 1/2 years apart.

I rarely show a picture of Daisy because she is so shy and hides most of the time. Also, if you look at the picture from yesterday with the sphere made of Tiger's Eye, you can see that Daisy's colouring is very similar.

I showed a gift yesterday of a really sweet cat reading a book that was anonymously given to me. Up on the same bookshelf are a few of my cat related items. I was inspired to show you this one I have of a triple Bastet cat sphere holder with a Tiger's Eye sphere. Bastet (also called Bast, B'sst, Baast, Ubaste, and Baset) was a goddess of ancient Egypt. I have a Tiger's Eye sphere on this stand because it was a prized gem in ancient Egypt. I found a quote from a website by MYKU that gives a very good brief summary, "In ancient Egypt, the beautiful bands of gold displayed by the stone were widely believed to be the rays of the powerful sun god, embodied by the tiger. Tiger’s Eye was regarded as one of the most prized gems of the Nile River Valley. Legend goes that the stone holds the power of midday sun, the hottest time of the day and symbolic of the peak of the life force. Therefore, pharaohs and other high-ranking aristocrats of the Egyptian court wore jewelry made from Tiger’s Eye, believing it will give them vitality and strength. Beyond its strength, the stone represented the concept of the all-powerful eye and was a precious, sacred offering to include in the tombs of the pharaohs to help them navigate the after life".

Yesterday morning, I went outside and saw this cat on my chair beside my door. I was thrilled and very surprised. I have not figured out who left it for me! What a nice thing for someone to do. If you are the person, thank you so much. It now has a place with my books on my shelf, and is loved.

I took this picture yesterday of sisters Elly-May (left) and Andi sleeping in the window area I made for the cats. These sisters have been close since they were born nearly 14 years ago. You can see a picture of Andi when she was about 4 months old in the picture below.

I was thinking of Felemur yesterday, so I found a picture of him with the kitten Andi. Felemur was just a few months away from being 20 years old when this picture was taken.

Another picture from 5 years ago. Dexter has interesting face marking which looks great to my eyes.

Monday June 06, 2022 Pic of the Day.
I was working in the basement and Avensby was watching me. I had the basement blocked off to the cats for their safety. The look in her eyes reminds me a bit of the picture from June 4 (two days ago) when she was riding around on me. Avensby is sharp, and this sharpness comes through in her eyes. You can even see the clear focus of her mind in yesterday's picture.

Taken 5 years ago to the day. The troublesome gang.
