Sunday July 31, 2022 Pic of the Day.
I've been working on an outdoor cat pen the cats can use on their own. They come and go from the tunnel you see with the windowed sides. I'm not done, but yesterday was the opening day, and in this picture taken a few minutes after it was opened to them, this group was out checking the pen out. I have a lot of plans for the inside of the pen to make it fun for them. I still have to shingle the roof of the pen and tunnel and do a few small jobs. I've been working on the pen for nearly 2 months so far.
Today's quote: “What's your name,' Coraline asked the cat.
'Look, I'm Coraline. Okay?'
'Cats don't have names,' it said.
'No?' said Coraline.
'No,' said the cat. 'Now you people have names. That's because you don't know who you are. We know who we are, so we don't need names.” ― Neil Gaiman, Coraline

Good or bad timing. I was taking pictures of Norton when I got this one.

Dexter trying to sleep awkwardly in a basket that is too small for him, but is in a spot he wants to be.
It has now been three years at the beginning of July that I've been posting pictures of the day. I'm not even coming close to running out. I have taken about 70-80 thousand cat pictures in the last 20 years. I've decided to add a quote of the day to each picture of the day. Not always cat related, but I'll aim for that. Today's quote: “I have studied many philosophers and many cats. The wisdom of cats is infinitely superior.” – Hippolyte Taine

Wednesday July 20, 2022 Pic of the Day.
Cornelius just outside the back door about to go for a walk with me. Taken 6 years to the day after he was found and brought home. 14 years ago. I remember this walk for some reason. When Cornelius would come out, he would stop, sit and look around for a while before continuing on.

The 2 outside cats are sisters, but the one in the middle is not directly related, though I think she is related somehow as she was found in the same very remote area as the 2 sisters. All were feral cats. Taking the picture at this angle was the only way I could get all 3 in the picture. Elly-May on the far left, Fiona in the middle, Daisy on the right.

Another picture of Cornelius - this time from July 2006. I was taking Cornelius and Felemur for a walk outside.

Norton has a very obvious mane like a lion, and this picture really shows it well. He is in the morning sun on the sleigh that was on the side of the cat tree when I lived at my house in the city.

Another picture of Xxaque and Felemur from the year 2000. This time outside in May enjoying some warmer weather. They were both older cats by this time, and they are of course long, long gone now. I'm very happy to have the pictures to remind me of some moments from this time in my life.
Taken: May 2000.
Friday July 08, 2022 Pic of the Day.
A picture from my first digital camera of my two boys Felemur and Xxaque (white cat). Over 22 years ago now! The camera had a resolution of 640X480 which at the time seemed good.
Taken: March 2000.
Thursday July 07, 2022 Pic of the Day.
Andi again, this time with Cornelius. Andi was about 10 months old here, and Cornelius was 11 years old. Andi adored Cornelius, and he enjoyed having the kittens around him. Picture is taken 13 years ago this month. I find it interesting that like most cats with black fur, Cornelius' fur has a reddish hue in the sun, but Andi's fur has an unusual blue hue in the sun. That is still true to this day, but less intense in the blue.

Wednesday July 06, 2022 Pic of the Day.
Andi out for a walk with me early in the morning. I've just started taking the cats for walks as we now live in a small house, whereas before we lived in a large house. The harness she is wearing is new, and we both really like it.

Sunday July 03, 2022 Pic of the Day.
In 2009 I made a cat pen that was about 25 feet from the house with a "skyway bridge" that connected the house to the cat pen. This was so the cats could get away from me and the house and be out in nature, but still be safe from the animals that lived in the deep woods where I lived. It was a very dangerous area for cats as there were bears, cougars, fishers, wolves, coyotes and large eagles. I had to move back to the city in 2011 and had to leave the cat pen behind. I'm back to living in a very rural area - this time deep in farm country. I'm going to start the process of making another cat pen with a skyway bridge for the cats. This is a picture of the one I made in 2009, and over the next while, I will post pictures of the progress of the new one I'm making. You can see the progress of this one from way back here.

Saturday July 02, 2022 Pic of the Day.
Elly-May, Norton and Patty in the window shelf I made for the cats on the west side of my place. It is outside the window, so the cats just have to step through the window to be outside of the home. There is a much larger one on the east side of my place. I only made this one to fit 2 cats at a time, but these 3 managed to squeeze in.

This is the "cat next door", her name is Sugar. I'm told she is a "Ragdoll Cat". She is a nice cat, but her face has a bit of the 'grumpy cat" thing going on. She does not like other cats, and when I tried to take my very socialble cat Andi over for a visit, Sugar just hissed and Andi wanted to go home.
