Monday January 31, 2022 Pic of the Day.
Avensby camping in the library. Better than camping outside in the January cold. Taken in January of 2019 - anyone else find it hard to beleive that January 2019 is three years ago?
Taken: January 2019.
Sunday January 30, 2022 Pic of the Day.
Dexter enjoying the 660nm red light therapy light I have set up for the cats. Makes the colours in the picture odd. The blanket is actually yellow.
Taken: January 2020.
Saturday January 29, 2022 Pic of the Day.
Taken the day after yesterday's picture, but this time with Avensby as the tuxedo cat instead of Dexter. This picture was taken at an angle through a window so it is not great in quality.
Taken: May 2018.
Friday January 28, 2022 Pic of the Day.
All my boy cats I had at the time. From left to right - Leon, Norton & Dexter. Enjoying a beautiful May day.
Taken: May 2018.
Thursday January 27, 2022 Pic of the Day.
Fiona cleaning behind her ears in her basket. She is 12 this year. Very fuzzy cat.
Taken: January 2022.
Wednesday January 26, 2022 Pic of the Day.
I saw an orange tabby kitten yesterday. Reminded me of Leon when he was a kitten. Here is Leon with his sister Andi in early 2009. Chessie from the previous 2 days is the sister of Andi and Leon from the same litter.
Taken: January 2009.
Tuesday January 25, 2022 Pic of the Day.
Another picture of Chessie. She was such a cute and sweet kitten, and stayed so very sweet when she got older. Sadly, she was sickly starting from around 3 years old. The vet and I tried everything, but she just made it to 9 years old. I've shown this picture of her as a kitten in the log cabin a while ago, but it is one of my favourite pictures of her.
Taken: January 2009.
Monday January 24, 2022 Pic of the Day.
A picture of my very sweet Chessie cat. She passed away 4 years ago today.
Taken: August 2017.
Sunday January 23, 2022 Pic of the Day.
I found this napkin that was saved from a birthday party from the early 1970's. I think it was 1972, but if not, very close. It was in the back of a sideboard where stuff has been sitting basically untouched since the mid 1970's. When I saw this napkin, I remembered it, and even remembered a couple of the birthday presents I got. Wow - that is 50 years ago! If you look down to the January 15 picture, you can see my cat placemat that is from the same era that I found in the same sideboard.
Taken: Early 1970's.
Saturday January 22, 2022 Pic of the Day.
Andi in my lap enjoying a rare warm & sunny late October day in the sunroom.
Taken: October 2021.
Friday January 21, 2022 Pic of the Day.
Avensby (left), Dexter (middle) and Andi (back of ears).
Taken: May 2018.
Thursday January 20, 2022 Pic of the Day.
This is a picture I've shown before. It is Dexter after he got in trouble for attacking Patty. Patty probably started it, but it's my job to stop fights that could be serious. I thought of this picture today because Dexter got into trouble again and got the same look on his face afterwards.
Taken: May 2018.
Wednesday January 19, 2022 Pic of the Day.
Another picture from 1991. This time Xxaque (white cat), Itty-Bitty (tabby in middle) and Felemur are waiting for me to finish cooking their food.
Taken: 1991.
Tuesday January 18, 2022 Pic of the Day.
There has been cold, wind and snow where I live. I needed a picture to remind me that summer will come back some day.
Taken: June 2018.
Monday January 17, 2022 Pic of the Day.
Avensby snoozing in her asperagus box. Even though she is a very small cat, she is a bit big for this box, but she still loves it. She has had this box since she was a kitten when I found it in the grocery store. The box is corrugated plastic, so it is cleanable and holds up very well.
Taken: January 2018.
Sunday January 16, 2022 Pic of the Day.
Another picture from 1991. This is Teddy (upper level) and Itty-Bitty-Kitty on the back deck. I don't think I've seen this picture in 31 years!
Taken: 1991.
Saturday January 15, 2022 Pic of the Day.
I've been doing cleaning and sorting around the house in rooms and closets that have been untouched for decades. Found my placemat from the very early 1970's in the back of the dining room sideboard. Had to throw it out as it was a spongy-plastic material that was staring to break down. I took a picture before it went in the trash. I actually remember wanting this as my placemat when I saw it in a store. It came from a store called "Horizon" which was a department store in Canada from 1972 to 1979. When the local mall opened in 1972, Horizon was one of the anchor stores. This placemat was probably purchased in 1972 or 1973. By the way, the eyes look odd because they were a special optical illustion that made it look like the eyes were following you. In the picture, both sets of eyes were captured.
Taken: Picture: December 2021, placemat from early 1970's.
Friday January 14, 2022 Pic of the Day.
Yet another picture from 1991. The white cat is Xxaque (pronounced "Zak") and Teddy. Teddy was such a sweet cat. She has been gone since 1994, and Xxaque has been gone since 2002. I'm sure glad I took these pictures.
Taken: 1991.
Thursday January 13, 2022 Pic of the Day.
Another picture from 1991. Felemur standing waiting to be fed, and Itty-Bitty-Kitty in the lower left. The cupboards you see are home-made from pine roofing boards. We could not afford proper cupboards, and there were none in the delapitated 1880 house we bought ($48,500 Canadian) in 1987, so I bought some cheap rough cut pine roofing boards (before the time it was common to use plywood for roofing boards under shingles) and spent what seemed like a thousand hours sanding them and making them into cupboards. Not the best, but it worked.
Taken: 1991.
Wednesday January 12, 2022 Pic of the Day.
I found a pile of pictures from 1991 that I had forgotten about. This is Xxaque (pure white), Itty-Bitty-Kitty (tabby) and Felemur (lynx point siamese) in my bathtub in my 1880 house I used to live in at the time. They used to hang out in the bathtub when it was hot.
Taken: 1991.
Tuesday January 11, 2022 Pic of the Day.
Another picture with Leon the orange tabby. This time with his sister Andi.
Taken: January 2012.
Monday January 10, 2022 Pic of the Day.
I looked back exactly four years to see what was happening. Leon (orange tabby) and Norton in a basket on the top of the cat tree.
Taken: January 2018.
Sunday January 09, 2022 Pic of the Day.
Five cats on my bedding. When People find out that I sleep on a basement cement floot with two blankets, they are normally quite surprised. Cats seem to understand. Some cats do prefer couches or chairs upstairs.
Taken: December 2020.
Saturday January 08, 2022 Pic of the Day.
Norton photobombing as I try and take a picture of Avensby sleeping in her asperagus box.
Taken: January 2018.
Friday January 07, 2022 Pic of the Day.
Looking back five years and found this one of Avensby and Leon cuddled up and snoozing.
Taken: January 2017.
Thursday January 06, 2022 Pic of the Day.
A picture from two days ago. Andi in the front window enjoying the sun. In fact, she is starting to nod off. There is something wonderful about fresh snow, clear blue skies and a warm sun behind a window.
Taken: January 2022.
Wednesday January 05, 2022 Pic of the Day.
When I went to make this the picture of the day, I discovered I've already used it before. Cornelius with his teddy bear which he had for years. I had bought it to give to my dad when he was in the hospital in the early 1990's. My dad liked it, and kept it until he died. I got it back, and Cornelius decided it was his. It lasted until the kittens I took in with the mom cat destroyed it in early 2009. I felt badly about that, but Cornelius took it in stride. I think he liked having the kittens around so much, he no longer needed the teddy bear. That really shocked me - an older, former tomcat taking to kittens with pure glee.
Taken: January 2005.
Tuesday January 04, 2022 Pic of the Day.
This coming February, I will have had Dexter for 10 years. I was looking back and found this picture of him on my computer scanner about a month after I took him in. Cornelius is on the computer screen and in the photo.
Taken: March 2012.
Monday January 03, 2022 Pic of the Day.
Yesterday, I showed a picture of these two sisters together when they were kittens in January of 2009. This is them in November 2021.
Taken: November 2021.
Sunday January 02, 2022 Pic of the Day.
Andi and Elly-May kittens from January 2009. Tomorrow, I have a picture from very recently of these two together.
Taken: January 2009.
Saturday January 01, 2022 Pic of the Day.
Happy New Year! Avensby (tuxedo kitten) meets her new family.
Taken: July 2016.
