I'll end this month on a "two cats with silly looks on their faces" note. Andi on the left caught just the moment she was licking her nose, and Avensby watching birds, but caught with a cartoonish look on her face.

Friday April 29, 2022 Pic of the Day.
I just took this picture yesterday. Nice portrait of Norton that captures his personality. He was a feral cat that was born in a neighbour's garden shed, and he looked totally different from the other kittens in the litter. The other kittens acted feral, but Norton used to follow me around when I worked in the yard, and I couldn't help but take him in to be part of the family.

Looked back 1 year to April of 2021, and found this one of Avensby under the blanket and Dexter watching me take her picture. Avensby does this herself - and has since a kitten. She will burrow around under a blanket for a while, then come to the edge like this and sleep.

I built an outdoor pen attached to the outside of a window for the cats. When the window is open, they can come and go as they please. Enjoying some morning sun.

Thursday April 21, 2022 Pic of the Day.
I just took this picture yesterday. Elly-May and Andi (tuxedo) together snoozing. These two have been together since the womb and they are 13 1/2 now. Very close sisters. I should note that they have very different personalities, but have a bond which is obvious day to day. Elly-May is what I call a "vertical" cat, in that she likes jumping up on things, climbing, and finding high spots. Andi is a "horizontal" cat, in that she stays on the floor or bed, rarely jumps up on anything, and is not keen on heights.

Wednesday April 20, 2022 Pic of the Day.
Fiona was sick when this picture was taken. I had just brought her home from the vet, and I find it best to keep the cat isolated, but still in the room with the rest of us. This way, nobody can bother her, and it helps her stay quieter. This is especially true with Fiona, as she can't stop moving. She got better quickly, and was out of the pen in a couple of days. In the pen was her water, food and personal litter box. This is a bittersweet picture, as she looks so cute and so sad.

This picture is amazing to me. Margarita is the tuxedo cat, and Norton is licking the top of her head. Margarita would never get close to ANY cat in the last 8 years I've had her. Normally, if another cat got near her, she would quickly move away or get very upset and hiss and growl. Norton has the ablilty to make friends with cats that seem unable to have friends.

I turned the sunroom into a cat play room. The cats loved it. Dexter is fully relaxed on a sleeping bag while Andi sleeps on a pillow on the shelf by the window. Andi sees me taking the picture, but Dexter is in a deep sleep.

Friday April 01, 2022 Pic of the Day.
This was taken on a cool April day. Cornelius loved being in this pen, and would run into it when I called him. He was an indoor only cat, but I would take his pen out after he ran into it, and set it outside in the sun on cool days. I was working in the yard, and he was sunning his tummy. I put the pen on the wheelbarrow so I could move it around to follow the sun, and to keep it off the still cool and damp ground. There were a lot of trees, and there were only small patches of light in the yard.
