Saturday November 30, 2019 Pic of the Day.
Cornelius and Chessie. Chessie would have been 1 year old here, while Cornelius would have been 11. Right from when Chessie was a kitten, she took to Cornelius.
Taken: October 2009.
Friday November 29, 2019 Pic of the Day.
Cornelius getting neck scratches, which he loved. He also loved being on beaches, and he enjoyed watching boats, so this was a great day for Cornelius. On the beach at Aylen Lake, Ontario near Algonquin Provincial Park on a beautiful, sunny fall day.
Taken: October 2006.
Thursday November 28, 2019 Pic of the Day.
Norton (Above) and Avensby (In box) on the cat tree.

Close to 20 years after yesterday's picture of two best friends, is this picture of two best friends. Dexter grooming Norton's mane.

Monday November 25, 2019 Pic of the Day.
This is another picture taken with my first digital camera, this time in April of the year 2000. That seems so long ago now, but I remember this time clearly. Xxaque is the white cat, Felemur is the Lynx Point Siamese. They were best friends. Both are long gone, Xxaque passed away in October 2004, and Felemur in February 2009. In this picture Xxaque would have been 13, while Felemur would have been 11. There is another picture of them last Monday - November 18's picture of the day - which also explains the pronunciation of their names. This camera only took 640 X 480 sized pictures, so this picture is full size. In 2000, my computer monitor only would display 640 X 480, so this picture would fill the screen and didn't seem lacking in size.
Taken: April 2000.
Sunday November 24, 2019 Pic of the Day.
A picture from the other day of three of the cats on my lap. I took this picture holding the camera above my head. I really liked the way that that Patty (Silver) and Margarita (Tuxedo) are lying in mirror images of each other. Fiona is the Forest cat closest to me.
Taken: November 2019.
Saturday November 23, 2019 Pic of the Day.
Nice picture of Andi in the sunroom on a beautiful sunny day in August of 2018. This picture captures Andi's personality quite well. She is sharp, stable & wise. She was a month away from being 10 years old here.
Taken: August 2018.
Friday November 22, 2019 Pic of the Day.
I was coming home, and saw Fiona in the window. If you look at yesterday's picture, you can see Fiona in the same spot taken from the inside. This is Fiona's favorite spot. You can see the cat tree and the sleigh attached to it in the picture behind Fiona.
Taken: November 2019.
Thursday November 21, 2019 Pic of the Day.
Avensby in her asperagus box, Dexter on the sleigh, and if you look closely on the shelf under the window, you can see Fiona keeping an eye on me between the post of the cat tree and the sleigh handle.
Taken: November 2018.
Wednesday November 20, 2019 Pic of the Day.
Cornelius getting his red light therapy. He had lung problems right from when he was found, and on a hunch, I tried using an infrared brooding light for him. He truly loved it, and when it was set to the right height, he would sleep under it for about an hour at a time. It did seem to help his lungs a little.
Taken: April 2004.
Tuesday November 19, 2019 Pic of the Day.
I love looking back at pictures of my cats, and this one brings the moment right back. I even remember saying at the time I took this, that one day I would be looking back at this when Avensby was an adult cat and remembering when she was a little kitten. She is about 5 months old here on my lap.
Taken: September 2016.
Monday November 18, 2019 Pic of the Day.
This is a picture from the summer of 2000. This was taken with my first digital camera. The picture is poor quality, but it seemed pretty good for the time. This is the full size of the picture. The white cat is Xxaque (pronounced "Zak") and the Lynx Point Siamese is Felemur (pronounced "Fah-lee-mur"). I had a box of straw for making raku pottery as I was a full time potter at the time, and the cats sure loved it.
Taken: Summer 2000.

This is Dexter. I am endlessly fascinated by cat's faces, so I spend a lot of energy trying to get pictures of cat's faces that capture what I see when I look at them. This one does a pretty good job of capturing Dexter.
Taken: August 2019.

Avensby as a 6 month old kitten in her asperagus box just being a happy kitten.

Leon is the orange tabby, Fiona is the fluffy, tiny forest cat. When Leon was alive, these two were the closest two cats could possibly be. When Leon passed away, Fiona was lost. She has taken to me, but I'm no substitute for Leon. This picture makes me smile and feel sad at the same time. I've posted many pictures on this site of them together, but this is one of the sweetest.

Many times I have mentioned Margarita is unique or unusual. Yesterday's picture was yet another post about her eyes. This picture shows one of her interesting habits of pushing her nose into hard objects. She does this a lot. She will settle in somewhere beside a solid object, then press her nose quite hard against it and just sit there. I'm not sure what she is up to when doing this. I've put my finger out and held it firmly in place and Margarita will use it to press her nose against. And I can say - she presses surprisingly hard, so hard that it is not easy to keep my hand or finger from moving. If you look carefully at her nose here, you can see where it is dented in at the spot where it meets the chair arm.

I often mention that Margarita has unusual eyes, or more accurately, has an unusual look in her eyes. This picture is of her on my lap. I find it very difficult to describe Margarita as she is so different than most cats I've known, and I spend a fair bit of time trying to figure her out. She really likes me, and will come up onto my lap whenever I sit down. Sometimes I'll be doing something, and catch her eye and I notice she is watching me carefully. When our eyes meet, she will give me a slow blink, then turn away. She likes it when I blink at her, and will often give a short upward nod of her head when I do.

Avensby looks like she is in jail here. In actuality, she is watching me work in the basement. The cats have access to under the stairs where this is, but I put wire across the opening to stop the cats from getting into the basement. I can't remember what I was doing, but she will sit for a long time like this with her head poked through the mesh just watching me work.
Taken: September 2017.
Monday November 11, 2019 Pic of the Day.
Andi at the vet in 2017. Andi needed to be weighed, and I set her on the scale, and she was so good. This picture really captures Andi's eyes.
Taken: October 2017.
Sunday November 10, 2019 Pic of the Day.
Another picture similar to yesterday's picture from around the same time. I used to get fresh fruit boxes from the grocery store every couple of weeks for the cats and line them with cat blankets until the stores stopped putting boxes out front from the cash registers.
Taken: October 2017.
Saturday November 09, 2019 Pic of the Day.
I think these two good friends look great together. There's something about their colour combination. Norton on the left, Dexter on the right.
Taken: November 2017.
Friday November 08, 2019 Pic of the Day.
This picture was taken during the construction of the cat tree. The main frame was built, but the top turret baskets had not been added, the sleigh was not even an idea yet, and there were other details unfinished. As soon as I stopped work on it, and went to take pictures, these three started checking it out. Leon is on the top, Dexter is poking his head through the top floor, and Andi is checking out the lower floor.

Sometimes events that have happened in the last year or two can seem long ago. Sometime, as is the case here, events many years ago seem recent. I remember this moment like it was only days ago. This was a very nice clear sunny November day in 2003, and Cornelius was taking full advantage of the sun. He was really happy this morning, and you can see the smile in his eyes.
Taken: November 2003.
Wednesday November 06, 2019 Pic of the Day.
Avensby (left), Dexter (centre) and Andi (right) in the cat tree baskets. With Dexter, you can only see his tail even though when I went to take the picture, he was looking at me just like Avensby and Andi. He decided to do a 360 degree turnaround just as I took the picture. At first I was disappointed, but when I saw the picture after, I liked it.

A friend gave me some catnip she picked from her garden. I put some down on the floor, and this was the sceen. There are 8 cats here, but Margarita is not easy to see in front of the trunk. Some are blurred because they are moving around.

Leon, the orange tabby kitten, adored Cornelius. He would follow him around. In this picture, Cornelius had gone up on the dresser to have a snack, and Leon followed. It was dark in the room, so I had to use the flash. Not the best picture of either of them, but for me it brings back memories of watching Leon following Cornelius all the time. Luckily, Cornelius just loved kittens and was never bothered by this. In fact, having the kittens around brought Cornelius a lot of joy in his later years.

Sunday November 03, 2019 Pic of the Day.
I finally managed to get a picture of Patty resting in this unique way. She is on the end table under the lamp. Two of my other cats do this, but it started from one - Norton - and the other two, Patty & Avensby, were copy-cats. It is not clear here, but they use the corner of the end table to support their chest, with their front legs on either side of the corner.

Not much to say about this picture other than Avensby looks very sweet. She is on the sleigh that is attached to the cat tree.
Taken: August 2019.
Friday November 01, 2019 Pic of the Day.
A picture of my now 11 year old Andi when she was a kitten. This is the first time I saw her. Her mom had ended up homeless due to a barn fire, and I had taken the mom cat (you can see her tail in this picture) and 2 kittens. I thought that is all there was, but the mom went and brought 3 more. This is just after she brought the tuxedo girl kitten I ended up calling Andi. I took this picture through the glass of the back door. Andi was a very small kitten compared to the others in the litter, but she ended up being a larger than average cat.
