tuxedo cat on chair in log cabin

Sunday March 31, 2019 Pic of the Day.

This is Andi in the log cabin I lived in. Andi would have been 15 months old here in January of 2010. If you look to yesterday's pic-of-the-day, you will see Andi on this chair in the background of the picture. If you look to the pic-of-the-day for March 18, you will see Andi in a 2018 picture.
Taken: January 2010.

cats in log cabin

Saturday March 30, 2019 Pic of the Day.

I used to live in a log cabin in a wooded area with all my cats. It's fun for me to look back at those days.
Taken: January 2010.

tuxedo cat in sunroom watching bug

Friday March 29, 2019 Pic of the Day.

First decent day in the sunroom this year. The cats are always so happy when it is sunny & warm enough in the sunroom to stay out for more than a few minutes. Avensby has spotted a bug.
Taken: March 2019.

tuxedo cat on table with fruit looking out back window

Thursday March 28, 2019 Pic of the Day.

If this was a painting, I would call it, "Still Life With Big Handsome Cat". Maybe it's the fruit that makes me think of paintings. I decided to look for a picture from 15 years ago, and found this one from exactly 15 years ago on March 27. Cornelius had breathing problems, and a light over him seemed to help, and he liked it regardless. He would spend time watching outside, then drift off under the light.
Taken: March 2004.

long haired tabby cat with tuxedo pattern

Wednesday March 27, 2019 Pic of the Day.

This is Norton on the asparagus box in the cat tree. One thing I find interesting about cat's fur markings/patterns is that some cats have patterns that are bilaterally symmetrical, and some are not at all. Norton here is one of the best examples I've had of a cat with markings that are nearly perfect in their bilateral symmetry. The left side is almost a mirror image of the right side. This picture shows that well. Notice that his face markings are symmetrical, and even the stripes and marks on his front legs are like mirror images. Other cats seem to have markings that are random on their whole body.
Taken: March 2019.

four cats in sunroom

Tuesday March 26, 2019 Pic of the Day.

Exactly 1 year ago today. Enjoying the sunroom early in the season when the sun came out. These four were a real set. Sadly, the orange tabby Leon passed away last August. The other three still hang out together, but like me they seem to miss Leon.
Taken: March 2018.

two cat friends in box

Monday March 25, 2019 Pic of the Day.

"Rabbit Ears" Cornelius sticking his tongue out at me.
Taken: June 2003.

two cat friends in box

Sunday March 24, 2019 Pic of the Day.

As soon as these two first met they were best friends. Norton (left) is one year older than Avensby, and he took care of her right from when I got her as a feral two month old kitten. I took this picture the other day. I came into the room, and this is what I found.
Taken: March 2019.

cat in cat tree basket

Saturday March 23, 2019 Pic of the Day.

Norton in one of the baskets at the top of the cat tree.
Taken: March 2018.

tuxedo cat in cat tree

Friday March 22, 2019 Pic of the Day.

Well?? Did you notice my pedicure?
Taken: March 2018.

tuxedo cat in boat

Thursday March 21, 2019 Pic of the Day.

Sorry Cornelius, boating season is almost over. Cornelius looking out to Aylen Lake by Algonquin Park from a boat in the marina yard.
Taken: October 2006.

Looking through window in sunroom at 6 cats

Wednesday March 20, 2019 Pic of the Day.

I was just looking through pictures from last year of the cats in the sunroom. Sunroom season is approaching, and the cats love it. This is looking into the sunroom from outside through the glass, and that's why things look odd with reflections. By the way, there are six cats in this picture.
Taken: June 2018.

Tuxedo cat in basket on top of cat tree

Tuesday March 19, 2019 Pic of the Day.

Dexter in a basket on the lower shelf of the cat tree.
Taken: March 2018.

Tuxedo cat in basket on top of cat tree

Andi in one of the baskets on the top of the cat tree.
Taken: March 2018.

Abyssinian

Sunday March 17, 2019 Pic of the Day.

Happy Patty Day. Yes, I know it should be Paddy on St. Patrick's Day, but....On March 17, 2010 I got a call from a neighbor saying there was a stray kitten on his front lawn. I went and got her. Because it was March 17, I named her Patty. I call her Pretty Patty.
Taken: March 2019.

tuxedo cat on cat tree

Saturday March 16, 2019 Pic of the Day.

Avensby sat on my lap and we watched a documentary on the Sphinx. I think she really took it to heart.
Taken: February 2018.

tuxedo cat in box on cat tree

Friday March 15, 2019 Pic of the Day.

Avensby in her asparagus box on the cat tree. I gave her this box when she was a kitten, and never she abandoned it. Its a little small for her now, but that doesn't deter her from using it.
Taken: January 2018.

forest cat sunning under lamp indoors

Thursday March 14, 2019 Pic of the Day.

Fiona, my tiny cat, is sunning herself under a lamp on a table. This is the one lamp left in the house that has an old-fashioned incandescent 60 watt light bulb. All the rest in the house are LED lights. The cats don't like the LED lights because they don't make the warm infrared light frequencies. As soon as I put an incandescent bulb in this lamp for the cats, they almost line up to lie under it. When this lamp is on in the winter, there is always a cat under it. In the summer when they can use the sunroom, I put an LED back in the lamp to save power and reduce heat.

tuxedo cats in cat tree

Wednesday March 13, 2019 Pic of the Day.

Norton and his amazing tail.
Taken: March 2019.

tuxedo cats in cat tree

Tuesday March 12, 2019 Pic of the Day.

I took this picture because I wanted to get a shot of all three of my tuxedo girl cats. Like yesterday's picture, after I looked at it, I saw something totally different. This picture is about the look in the eyes of all three tuxedo girls. From left to right: Andi, Avensby, Margarita, and in behind not facing the camera is Fiona.
Taken: March 2019.

tuxedo cat in box

Monday March 11, 2019 Pic of the Day.

When I took this picture, I was just thinking it was very cute the way Avensby was sleeping. After looking at the picture, all I could think of was it looked like she was doing a puppet show.
Taken: March 2019.

tuxedo cat in yard

Sunday March 10, 2019 Pic of the Day.

Cornelius in the yard of the log cabin I lived in. This picture was taken on Cornelius day (August 15).
Taken: August 2008.

fives cats in boxes

Saturday March 09, 2019 Pic of the Day.

I'm sorry this picture didn't come out as good as it could have. It is a bit out of focus. Still, a great shot as far as I'm concerned. There are five cats in this picture.
Taken: April 2017.

Cat riding on a human's shoulder

Friday March 08, 2019 Pic of the Day.
Avensby likes to ride around on my shoulder. She leaps onto me when I pass by her. At first, this used to take me by surprise, but I'm used to it now. I walked into the bathroom with her riding on me, and took this picture in the bathroom mirror. I'm not very photogenic, but this is one of the better shots of me.
Taken: May 2018.

10 cats sleeping in boxes inside my house

Thursday March 07, 2019 Pic of the Day.
Two years ago. Two cats in this picture have passed. This is before the Cat Tree, so I don't have the coffee table or the boxes in the room any more.
Taken: February 2017.

two orange cats eating

Wednesday March 06, 2019 Pic of the Day.
Somebody looks guilty. I came into the litterbox room and found this. Even though it looks like Avensby here did this, I know who the real culprit is - Dexter. This is his trademark crime. He pulls all the tissues out of the tissue box and shreds them. Avensby just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. I think she really thought she was going to get into trouble for this.
Taken: February 2019.

tuxedo cat

Tuesday March 05, 2019 Pic of the Day.
What would I like for supper? Hmmmm, lets see...I'd like roast organic chicken...on the good dishes. Oh, don't forget to warm the dish please.
Taken: February 2019.

tuxedo cat

Monday March 04, 2019 Pic of the Day.
Avensby using a small plastic basket as a pillow.
Taken: March 2019.

two orange cats eating

Sunday March 03, 2019 Pic of the Day.
The one on the left is Ruffy, and the one on the right is Betty. I used to regularly cat sit these two and other cats & dogs in the family. These two were very nice cats, and I enjoyed taking care of them. Both are long gone - this picture was taken 16 years ago. Both were foundlings.
Taken: January 2003.

small forest cat

Saturday March 02, 2019 Pic of the Day.
A nice picture of my tiny cat Fiona. She is a tenacious lap cat. She is strong willed, independant & very friendly with me, but if anyone else comes into the house, she has a very good hiding spot she stays in until the guests leave. She will not even come out for food when there are other people in the house. When I found her, she was a very sick, approximately 6 month old with no teeth. Her teeth grew in, but she never gained in size giving her a forever kitten look with the big head, big eyes and small body that is popular in cartoons. This picture for the February 24 pic-of-the-day gives you a good idea of how tiny she really is. She is a long haired cat, so she is actually even smaller than the photos suggest. The fur on her body is about 3 inches long. 8 1/2 years old here.
Taken: February 2019.

tuxedo cat and teddy bear

Friday March 01, 2019 Pic of the Day.
If you look to the February 3 pic-of-the-day, you will see another picture of Cornelius with his teddy bear. I also explain the history of him having it. He really did have a connection with it.
Taken: January 2005.
