Norton is just yawning here, but it looks like he is rabid. He also looks like a talking cat from a children's book from the 1800's.
Mother/daughter on the wood table. Mumma-Puma the mom in behind, Andi the daughter in front.

Ever since I was a teenager, I've put holes in walls and floors for cats to use. I first did this when I was about 16. I did it for my cat to be able to go into a sunroom without a person having to open a door for them. I cut a hole in the wall that led to a tunnel to another hole. My parents were not thrilled that I had done this. In fact, this first cat door I made went through a brick wall which I methodically cut through with a hammer and chisel while my parents were at work. I was proud of my project - they were horrified. Anyway, to this picture. This is Cornelius coming through a hole in a floor that led to the basement where there was a shelf that led to a cat door that went outside. This picture is taken as Cornelius is coming back up after discovering the hole. After I saw him go down, I got the camera and waited for him to come back up.

Andi (tuxedo) and Fiona. Andi has a look of "there he goes with the camera again". Fiona has such nice colouring. Spending time on my lap. I've mentioned this before regarding Andi: she is very bright or "with-it", and her eyes communicate clearly. This is a good example of that.

This may just look like two cats on a chair to most people, but to me this shot is amazing. Had to take a picture to remind myself it actually happened. These two don't get along well to put it mildly. I guess as they are both getting older they have mellowed. Still - amazing. Patty is the grey cat, Dexter is the tuxedo.

I was thinking of my cat Felemur. He is the one in the middle. He was a couple of months away from being 20 yearls old here. Mumma-Puma is the mom cat using Felemur as a pillow. The other one is Mumma's daughter Elly-May (see Monday, June 24 picture below).

I've said before that I really like the mother and child cat pictures. This one is of the mom cat Mumma-Puma (left-front) and Elly-May (right-rear), the daughter. Mumma would have been 8 years old here, and Elly would have been 4. Mumma is gone now exactly 6 months to the day, and Elly is is just about 3 months away from being 11. The movement of time never ceases to amaze me. Mumma and Elly were asleep here, and I tried to get a picture without disturbing them, but as you can see that failed. They both are a little annoyed with me for waking them.

OK, the last picture for a while of Avensby when she was a kitten. This picture of her with her best friend Norton was taken on Cornelius Day (August 15) of 2016. They are on the shelf in the sunroom.

This picture is from shortly before yesterday's picture. Again, sorry about the poor image quality. I really made a bad mistake buying a cheap camera after my good camera stopped working prior to this era of pictures. My phone now takes better pictures, and I have a good camera again as well. Still, this is a sweet picture of all my tuxedo cats together while Avensby was still a kitten. I did not place the rope over her like this. She was playing with the rope and rolling around, then stood up to watch me with the camera with the rope like this. Dexter in the blue plastic box on the trunk, Margarita in the left cardboard box, Avensby in the middle, and Andi on the right.

Found this picture of Avensby in my lap from September 2016. Too bad about the poor quality camera I had at the time, but Avensby sure is cute here. She was born around May 1 of 2016, so she would have been a little over 4 months old here.

Exactly one year to the day that I took yesterday's picture, I took this one. Though it was not planed, it turns out they are very similar pictures. For one thing, Andi is in both pictures. And, both are pictures taken through windows where the reflection and the inside get blended. This picture is taken at the front of the house, whereas yesterday's pictures was taken at the back of the house. In this one you can see my front lawn in Andi's forehead, and the Yew hedge in Andi's body fur. I really like the subtle way her fur and the Yew hedge blend making Andi look like a feline Yew hedge. You can even see me taking the picture.

I was looking at pictures I took exactly one year ago, and found this one. This picture is taken through glass on a sunny day into the sunroom. The view of the inside of the sunroom is scrambled with the reflections from the the outside giving a strange picture. You can actually see my reflection if you take the time to look. I'm wearing a white T-shirt with jean shorts. You can only see me from the chest down. Not a great picture of course, but interesting - at least I think so.

Monday June 17, 2019 Pic of the Day.
I'm stuck in a rut looking at pictures from early 2009. I really enjoyed that time with the 5 kittens, the mom cat and my two older male cats - a total of 8 cats at that time. In this picture are 3 of the 5 kittens, Cornelius who adored the kittens, and if you look carefully, Mumma-Puma the mom cat in the lower left of the picture.
When I look back to these photos, I'm so happy I took the time to take them. It wasn't always easy going around with a camera on me, or near me at all times. I don't have a great memory, and seeing these pictures brings it all back for me. In this picture of 5 cats, only 2 remain (Daisy at the far upper left, and Elly-May in the far right of the picture), and even they are just 3 months away from being 11 years old now. The kittens were born in September of 2008, so they would have been 6 months old here. Cornelius would have been 11, and Mumma-Puma would have been about 4 1/2. The 2 kittens missing in this picture are the 2 from yesterday's picture. Chessie is the brown tabby 2nd from the left.

Orange tabby kitten is Leon, with his sister Andi. They are about 6 months old here. I noticed at the time that when one of the kittens from the litter were doing something like drinking water, others from the litter would join in. Leon came over to the water to drink, and Andi was sleeping on the rug between the water dish and matress. When Leon started drinking, Andi sat up and started to drink too, but she didn't bother getting up on her feet. This picture was taken in the loft I built from trees in the woods behind the cabin. If interested, you can read about the loft I made for the log cabin here: Cedar Log Cabin Loft.

Cornelius on the left, Mumma-Puma on the right. Cornelius was a found Tomcat from corn & soy country when he was 4 years old in 2002. Mumma-Puma was the barn cat with 5 kittens I took in when the barn she lived in burned down late November 2008. Mumma-Puma was also 4 years old when she became a house cat. I think because both were feral cats until they were 4 years old, and then became house cats, these two really understood each other. They became friends right away. They also both genuinly appreciated being taken good care of. This picture captures the friendship they had. I think Mumma-Puma also appreciated that her 5 kittens adored Cornelius, and he was smitten with them. Not only did she not have to hunt for food any more, but she also got a break from the kittens when Cornelius would play with them. In fact, Cornelius was so taken with the kittens - which was a real shock to me - that it seemed to bring a brightness back to him as he was getting older.

Yet another picture from the same time as yesterday's and the day before picture of the day. This is kitten Elly-May sleeping on a pile of hand-painted silk pillows in the log cabin in the woods. She is the kitten in the back left of the picture from the Tuesday June 11 picture. Elly-May to this day is such a sweet, kind cat that never causes any problem. In this picture she looks like a fuzzy angel, and that is really true.

Another picture from around the same time as yesterday's picture. This is Andi (The Tuxedo kitten from yesterday's picture) looking out the window of the log cabin in the woods I lived in while she's sitting in a flower pot. I love this picture.

My girlfriend came to visit me when I lived in a log cabin in the woods, and this was the first time she was there after I had taken in the mom cat (I named her "Mumma-Puma") and her 5 kittens. The kittens were really frightened of her, and they all ran into the cat pen attached to the wall of the back of the cabin when she first arrived. My girlfriend stuck her camera into the opening to the pen through the wall and took this fantastic picture. I just love this shot of the 5 kittens. You can see they are not happy being discovered where they were hiding.

Patty Cat on the wood picnic table in the sunroom. I think Patty is such a beautiful cat. Patty is either a Silver Abyssinian or a Silver Abyssinian & Tabby cross. I've been told both. Doesn't matter to me. Either way she is Patty Cat. She, like all my cats, was a cat that needed a home, and she got one.

Andi on the top shelf of the cat tree. Nice cozy spot nestled into a gap in the mass of wood. I don't know why Andi looks worried in this picture. When I was taking it, she was really happy. Just timing I guess.

Day three of pictures of Avensby in her asparagus box! Last one for a while. After posting yesterday's picture, I decided to look for a picture that showed her in it when she was a kitten. I found the picture of her in it when I first brought it home. Dexter is beside her watching her take it over. Not a very clear picture - this was back when I was using a very poor quality Canon point-and-click camera. I really am sorry I did not buy a better camera when I got Avensby. She would have been 5 1/2 months old here.

Another picture from the same time as yesterday, just from a different angle. I wanted to tell a story about Avensby and her aparagus box. When she was 6 months old and it was time for her to be spayed, I took her to the vet with this box and some shirts of mine that I had worn so she would feel somewhat comfortable. When I picked her up from the vet later the same day, the staff there were telling me she spent the entire time in the cage in this box. She loves this aparagus box. It's a good thing this box is not cardboard - it is corrugated plastic, so I can wipe it down occasionally. If you look to the left above her head, you will see a screw and washer that hold this box in place so it can't slip off the shelf on the cat tree.

Avensby enjoying her asparagus box on the cat tree. She is a tad too big for it now (I got it for her when she was a kitten), but that doesn't stop her from using it.

If you read yesterday's description with the picture, you might think I wasn't too happy with Dexter. Strangely enough, Dexter is one of the most enjoyable cats I've had. He is super bright, fun and interacts with me contstantly. In many ways, Dexter is more dog-like than most cats. He is always full of energy, wants to play, and does not like being left alone. Sometimes when a feral Tomcat is taken in later in life like Dexter was, even after neutering they retain the Tomcat traits. Spraying is one of those, and he can hardly be blamed for this. Dexter was a found Tomcat when he was about 4 years old.
The first day after bringing Dexter home in February of 2012, he literally clung to me with his claws. Our first night, he slept on my chest with his claws holding on to my shirt. When I went to the bathroom, I had to take him with me as he was not letting go. The second day I had him, I realized I just had to stay with him until he knew he had a full time home. I decided to watch a movie on my computer, and we sat and watched the movie Tron together. He was amazed at the screen and all the images on it, and just clung to me watching the whole movie. Because of that, to this day, he has the nickname "Tron". It has morphed over the years into me saying, "He is DexTron from the planet CatTron".

I don't have a bed anymore. The cat closest to me in this picture (Dexter) has a bad habit of peeing on just about anything cloth or bedding like. Because of him, I no longer have any chairs other than wooden or outdoor chairs, no bed, no couch, no rugs, etc. I don't even have a pillow anymore - he soaked every one with pee. Oh well, I'm used to all that now. The point I'm getting to is that for a "bed" I just put a couple of blankets on the cement floor. When I go to "bed" now, the cats pile onto the blankets with me. Sometimes it is hard for me to find a place to lie down. Last night, within a minute of me laying out the blankets on the floor, this was the scene. Yes, Dexter has peed onto the blankets, but that is easy to wash compared to a matress. For a pillow, I just roll up an old blanket because that is washable whereas a pillow is not.
One more thing - the cat furthest from the camera is the kitten from yestday's picture. She is 3 years old now. My baby is all grown up.

The reason for this website is my cat Cornelius. I looked back to June 2003 and found this picture that I had completely forgotten about. As I've said before, I have over 60,000 photos of my cats (over 100,000 photos in total), and it can happen that I forget even taking some pictures. This was a great surprise for me. This isn't a perfect photo by any means, but it does do a great job of capturing the real Cornelius. Nice way to start a new month of pictures. Hope you all have a great June 2019.
