Yesterday was Dexter in my backpack, today it is Dexter in the cat tree I got back in 2012 which is now long gone. Looks very summery in this picture with the crabapple tree full of crabapples. Dexter looks very content here.

This is Octavia. I was visiting a friend on Boxing day, and Octavia was under furniture, on her bed by the heating vent. She is very shy, but did let me take a couple pictures of her. What cute markings she has on her face.

This is a picture of the cat pen I made when I lived in a log cabin in the woods of Central Ontario, Canada. This picture was taken just after Christmas of 2009.

Well, they're off! Santa and his tuxedo cats bringing gifts to people and cats all over the world. You can see them resting up for this big night in yesterday's picture. Merry Christmas and much happiness to all.

Sunday December 22, 2019 Pic of the Day.
Continuing on with the theme of looking back to the month of December in previous years, this is a picture of Cornelius in a Red Pine woods in Central Ontario Canada, just about 12 km south of Bancroft Ontario. This is where the log cabin was that I lived in for 5 years. You can see pictures of the woodstove area of the cabin inside in the December 16 & 1 pictures of the day. This was an unusually warm and sunny December 31 day.

Monday December 16, 2019 Pic of the Day.
Normally I would never use a photo this out of focus, but there is something about this picture that touches me. This is back from the time I lived in a log cabin in the woods. This woodstove was the only source of heat, and what a wonderful source of heat it was. I miss wood heat all the time in the winter. Though a natural gas furnace is very convenient, it just does not feel the same as the glow of the fire inside a woodstove. You would think Cornelius knew how to pose for this shot.

My Silver Abyssinian cat Patty has an odd habit of putting her toys into the food and water dishes. She does this quite often. She will eat some food, then get a toy, and drop it into the food or water.

Thursday December 12, 2019 Pic of the Day.
This may not appear to be a special picture, but to me this picture is close to a miracle. Dexter, the tuxedo, and Patty, the silver abyssinian, normally just hate each other. Both normally get very upset when one sees the other. I have no idea what happened here. I was doing something, looked over, and saw this. It took me a moment to realize that I should take a picture because I was in shock. You can see in Dexter's eyes that he is thinking about this whole situation.

Norton is the second cat I've had that sometimes sleeps with his eyes open. Cornelius used to do this as well. Norton is actually asleep here.

Four cats on my lap last Sunday morning. I sat down on my chair with a cup of tea, and within a few minutes this was the scene. In this picture, I'm holding the camera above my head.

Just to contrast with yesterday's picture of Andi, here is a picture of Dexter. If you compare, I think you can guess who is my number 1 trouble maker. Though Dexter is very warm and affectionate, he also is a hell-raiser. One Dexter causes about as much work and trouble as 20 Andi's! When you compare Dexter to Andi in yesterday's picture, think of the old saying, "The eyes are the windows to the soul"

Saturday December 07, 2019 Pic of the Day.
I mention often that I think Andi has beautiful, expressive eyes. I also love the colour of her eyes. Andi has a sweet, gentle personality but she is strong willed. She is warm, and very stable - she has the same temperment all the time. She never picks fights, and the other cats are comfortable around her.

Cornelius right by the Woodstove, which is just out of shot to the left. I used to keep paper and kindling for starting fires in the ceramic planters. This was from the time I lived in a 100 year old Cedar log cabin.

It's December! Woodstove season if you are a cat like Felemur here. Felemur was just a couple of months away from being 19 years old when this picture was taken. This picture is from the time I lived in a log cabin with only wood heat.
