September 30, 2018 Pic of the Day: Rented this machine to level out the yard. Spent 4 days in it. Cornelius watched me from his cat pen attached to the wall. After being in it most of the day, I took him for a walk. He wanted to see what this thing was I rode around in all day. I don't think he was too impressed, though he did approve of the black & while colour scheme. Taken: May 2007.
September 29, 2018 Pic of the Day: Cornelius. The reason for Tuxedo Cat Junction. The cat that changed me. Though long gone, there is not a day, or probably an hour that goes by that I don't think of him. A truly great soul that happened to be born into a cat body. Taken: January 2003.
September 28, 2018 Pic of the Day: One day I was walking by a house and noticed the window air conditioner. The moment I saw it, I had an idea for the cats. Why not install a cat cage like a window air conditioner, so the cats could feel like they were outside, but still be indoor cats. They loved it. Taken: June 2004.
September 27, 2018 Pic of the Day: My little computer buddy. She can spend hours on my lap while I work. Taken: October 2013.
September 26, 2018 Pic of the Day: She was one of the kittens that came with the mom cat I took in November of 2008, though she is nothing like them in personality. There is a picture of her in the upper right of the picture with her and her litter mates and her mom for the August 1 Pic of the Day. Most people have no idea this cat exists who visit me. She is terrified of people that come into the house, even though I raised her from a kitten. Think of a feral squirrel or raccoon or other fully wild animal to get an idea of what she is like. She is a rather large cat at around 16 pounds. The fur on her sides is about 4 inches deep. There are long tufts of fur that come from between her toes. Cats that look like her live wild in the woods of Central Ontario where I lived when I got her. Read the description from the September 18 Pic of the day (her sister). We get along well, but it is like becomming friends with a wild animal outside. Oddly, another of my cats that was a feral cat from that area is my smallest cat - see the August 5 and August 22 Pic of the Day to see her. Their markings are so similar, but their size and personality are as different as can be. Taken: September 2018.
September 25, 2018 Pic of the Day: I was vacuuming, and when I turned around by the cat tree, I saw this. Had to take a picture. Taken: September 2018.
September 24, 2018 Pic of the Day: The kitten was 3 months old here, and the other cat is 12. She was a mom cat that had many kittens in her time, but at this point, she hadn't had a kitten in 8 years. The mom cat was not sure at first when the kitten wanted to cuddle up to her, but when she relented, I think she really liked being around a kitten again. Taken: July 2016.
September 23, 2018 Pic of the Day: I felt a need to put up some kitten pictures. Taken: July 2016.
September 22, 2018 Pic of the Day: This is the green eyed lady that fit in the basket. See yesterday's picture. Taken: August 2015.
September 21, 2018 Pic of the Day: This guy was way too big for this basket, but he saw one of the smaller cats in it and thought it should be his. Taken: August 2015.
September 20, 2018 Pic of the Day: My bed. LOL. Sometimes they let me sleep there too. BTW, there is a brown tabby in the basket, but she almost fully blends in. Taken: December 2014.
September 19, 2018 Pic of the Day: So this is the kitten from yesterday's Pic of the Day (below) now at 10 years old. A really nice cat with great manners and a warm personality. Taken: August 2018.
September 18, 2018 Pic of the Day: Wow, this little fluffy doll is 10 now. In this picture she's about 4 months old. She is as sweet as she is pretty. Believe it or not, she was a kitten of a barn cat in a remote area. Where she was from, there were numerous feral cats that looked just like her. In fact, in the area, the locals just referred to them as "Forest Cats". Whether there is some connection to the Norwegian Forest Cat or not, I have no idea, though I've seen pictures of Norwegian Forest Cats that looked very similar. In the area I was from, there were several times I was going down a remote gravel road with forest all around, and there would be a cat that looked just like her on the edge of the woods, so they really did seem to be cats that were naturalized to the forests there. She and her sister are fairly large cats now at around 15 pounds, but no excess fat. Taken: January 2009.
September 17, 2018 Pic of the Day: Avensby has been bugging me to get her own Twitter account, so I finally relented. I still think she's a bit young for it, but grandkids grow up fast these days I guess. Avensby's Twitter Page. Taken: September 2018.
September 16, 2018 Pic of the Day: The big tuxedo cat is Cornelius who just loved the kittens. The mom cat is in the blue flower pot by the stove. The walls in behind are not decoration - that was a real settler's log cabin build around 1907 in the woods of Central Ontario which I lived in for 5 years. That stove was the only source of heat. Taken: January 2009.
September 15, 2018 Pic of the Day: This one turned 10 years old this month, so I was looking back on when she was a kitten. Taken: January 2009.
September 14, 2018 Pic of the Day: Here is a picture of the cat from yesterday's Pic of the Day when he was 20 years old - the picture below is of him when he was 1.5 years old. He did not live too much longer after this picture was taken, but it was nice for him to enjoy the kittens for a while before he passed on. He liked the kittens, and they loved cuddling up to him. Taken: January 2009.
September 13, 2018 Pic of the Day: A film camera picture taken in 1990. He would have been about 1.5 years old here. He ended up living to 20 years old. Amazing blue eyes. He was a stray kitten when I found him. For about 11 years I had no idea where this beautiful kitten had come from - I found him lost on my street when I lived in a rough downtown area of my city. Then, about the year 2000, I was shopping at a small Italian grocery store about 2 1/2 blocks from where I lived. There on the floor was a cat that looked just like him. I told the woman who owned the store I had a cat that looked just like her cat and that I had found him about 2 1/2 blocks away in early 1989. She was so happy to hear this. Her cat was a mom cat, and this guy we think was her single kitten born in the spring of 1989 that had gotten out by accident one day, and they never saw him again. They had assumed all those years he had died or was run over by a car as the store was on a busy 4 lane main street. By the way, even though this guy lived to 20, his mom was amazing. She lived to 23, and according the the woman in the store when I went back years later, had her last kitten when she was 21. The woman said she had a litter every year of 1 or 2 kittens only. Taken: Fall 1990.
September 12, 2018 Pic of the Day: Sister & brother when they were 4 years old. They were best friends right from when I first knew them at 6 weeks old. Taken: September 2012.
September 11, 2018 Pic of the Day: Winter with the cats in the cedar log cabin I used to live in. It was in the woods of a remote area of Central Ontario, Canada. No running water, wood heat & 8 cats. Taken: January 2010.
September 10, 2018 Pic of the Day: HEY! You talkin' to me? I got a real laugh after this picture was taken. He was moving his head when I took the picture, and it just happened to catch this. Taken: February 2003.
September 9, 2018 Pic of the Day: This was a cat I used to cat-sit when her family was on vacation at their cottage in the summer. She was a very nice cat that was a taken in stray from the area their cottage was located. Her name was Grady-Pearl. I can't remember the reason for the Grady part of the name, but the Pearl part is obvious - there was a pearlescent look to her white fur. Taken: January 2003.
September 8, 2018 Pic of the Day: These two are not related, but get along so well. Taken: August 2018.
September 7, 2018 Pic of the Day: Without a doubt, she is the most difficult cat I have ever had to get a picture of. I like that one leg is white, while the other is black. To me, it looks like she is wearing a toga. Taken: August 2018.
September 6, 2018 Pic of the Day: Taken on a cold March day this year - the high temperature this day (I checked) was 3 celsius or 37 fahrenheit. You can see there is still snow on the ground on the left side of the picture, but these guys are really enjoying the warmth of the sun in the aptly named sunroom. For the last while, where I live has been going through an awful heat wave with high humidity. I just wanted to look back to a time we were all looking forward to some warmth. Taken: March 2018.
September 5, 2018 Pic of the Day: This kitten was one of Mumma-Puma's kittens that came with her in November 2008 (see Pic of the Day for the last couple of days). I just happend to take the picture as she was flipping herself over - one of those lucky shots you get when you take a lot of pictures. Taken: January 2009.
September 4, 2018 Pic of the Day: I'm on a Mumma-Puma cat theme the last few days. This picture is very special to me. This is about 1 month after I had taken her and her kittens into my home after the barn they lived in burned down and were homeless just before winter. She was starting to adapt to being inside by this point. She seemed to be grateful to me for sheltering & feeding her and her kittens. One day as I was working on the computer, she jumped up on my lap for the first time, and put her paw on my hand and just sat there like that for a while. I slowly reached for the camera with my left hand, turned it on and took this picture. Taken: December 2008.
September 3, 2018 Pic of the Day: This is one of the first pictures I have of Mumma-Puma (see picture below) and one of the five kittens she had with her (see September 1 Pic of the day on wood shelf by window). This picture was taken just a couple of days before I was able to catch the mom cat and her kittens and take them in. Nine days after this picture was taken, there was 2 feet of snow. Taken: November 2008.
September 2, 2018 Pic of the Day: Her name is Mumma-Puma. She was the mother cat with 5 kittens I took in in November 2008 when the barn they lived in burned down (See August 1, 2018 Pic of the Day to see her and her kittens when I took them in). She is 14 years old in this picture. I called her Mumma-Puma because she was a mumma cat, and when she meowed, she sounded like a Puma meowing. In the picture right below this one - September 1 Pic of the Day - the brown and black cat on the wood picnic table, the orange cat on the glass table & the tuxedo cat on the wood shelf by the window are 3 of the 5 kittens that she came with in November 2008. Taken: August 2018.
September 1, 2018 Pic of the Day: Almost exactly 1 year ago. Cats enjoying a nice day in the sunroom. Taken: September 2017.
