August 31, 2018 Pic of the Day: Wow, another month gone. For the last picture of the month I chose this one because it was around this time I started to understand how to compose a picture with a cat. I just like this picture, because for me, it captures Cornelius' personality, and I remember him in a clearer way while looking at it. Taken: February 2003.
August 30, 2018 Pic of the Day: Every night before bed I do a roll call to make sure all the cats are accounted for and OK. It lets me sleep better. One night, I looked everywhere and could not find Leon. Looked in the basement many times, but the last time, out of the corner of my eye I caught movement - Leon had slightly wagged his tail. I looked up, and even then it took me a moment to actually see him. I would never have thought before this that orange tabby cats were the same colour as wood, but there you go. The old saying, "harder to find than a needle in a haystack", could be replaced by, "harder to find than an orange tabby in a lumber yard". Taken: January 2012.
August 29, 2018 Pic of the Day: Pretty Patty. She was cat I was called to rescue, as someone had seen her dumped by the side of a highway when she was a 6 month old kitten. I had never seen a cat like her before, until one day a person said she was a Silver Abyssinian & Tabby cross. I put that term into Google, and there were pictures just like her, so I guess that is what she is. She has a very Siamese like personality, and though she can be tempermental, she is also very cuddly. She also can play with a ping pong ball for a very long time during the night. Taken: September 2011.
August 28, 2018 Pic of the Day: This guy is naturally photogenic, but he is so squirmy. It took me a lot of trys to get this picture. Taken: August 2018.
August 27, 2018 Pic of the Day: Cornelius waiting to go for a boat ride. Taken: October 2006.
August 26, 2018 Pic of the Day: I like pictures that capture a thought. Taken: August 2018.
August 25, 2018 Pic of the Day: The family misses you Leon. Taken: August 2018.
August 24, 2018 Pic of the Day: That's not what the cat door was meant for. The other cats are not impressed. Taken: August 2018.
August 23, 2018 Pic of the Day: Boxed & ready for shipping. Taken: August 2016.
August 22, 2018 Pic of the Day: If you look to the August 17 Pic of the Day, you will see these two in a picture taken in August 2018, but this picture above of them was taken in August 2012. In fact, if you look at yesterday's Pic of the Day, you can see them together in the sunroom in August 2013. Taken: August 2012.
August 21, 2018 Pic of the Day: Cats in the Sunroom again like the picture from yesterday, but this time from 1 year before within a couple of days. Taken: August 2013.
August 20, 2018 Pic of the Day: Cats in the Sunroom. Taken: August 2014.
August 19, 2018 Pic of the Day: If you look to the bottom picture - the Pic of the Day for August 1, you will see the kittens & mom I took in in 2008. I'm working on a page about that story and will post it soon. However, this is the first picture I have of 3 of the kittens. Leon (also the picture below this one) is right under the tarp, right under him is his sister Daisy (you have to look closely), and another sister Elly-May on the side of the woodpile. It was very shortly after this was taken I was able to catch them all and take them in the house. Taken: November 2008.
August 18, 2018 Pic of the Day: Today is dedicated to my great friend Leon. Taken: July 2018.
August 17, 2018 Pic of the Day: These two have always been close. Notice they are holding paws. Taken: August 2018.
August 16, 2018 Pic of the Day: My last picture of my great friend Cornelius. He completely changed me as a person, and radically changed my life. My gratitude to him, and his influence on me is unending. Taken: June 2011.
August 15, 2018 Pic of the Day: HAPPY CORNELIUS DAY! August 15 is Cornelius Day. This picture was taken in early 2003 when Cornelius was sick with serious lung problems. I found turning down the heat in the house and putting him under a heat lamp, and on a heating pad would help with his breathing. The light from the heat lamp is why his stomach looks red. He was a four year old feral Tom Cat when found August 15, 2002, and this picture is special to me, as he just could not believe how well he was being taken care of when he was fairly helpless. The look of love in his eyes in this picture still really touches me. Taken: January 2003.
August 14, 2018 Pic of the Day: I had been taking dozens of pictures of her when she had just had enough of it. This is the last shot of her that day - looking really annoyed with me. The funny thing is, this the best shot of the session because it captures a true feeling. Taken: August 2018.
August 13, 2018 Pic of the Day: Sometimes the oddest picture just works out by accident. I don't even know why, but I love this picture. Taken: May 2018.
August 12, 2018 Pic of the Day: I am sooooooooooo bored. Taken: August 2018.
August 11, 2018 Pic of the Day: Cornelius enjoying a summer's day on the deck while I read a book. Taken: June 2005.
August 10, 2018 Pic of the Day: Cornelius in log loft in the Cedar Log Cabin I used to live in. Taken: November 2008.
August 9, 2018 Pic of the Day: In the sun room. These 3 siblings are 10 years old and from the same litter in 2008. Go to the August 1, 2018 Picture of the day (below - the picture at the bottom) to see them when they were kittens. Taken: August 2018.
August 8, 2018 Pic of the Day: I was sitting on a chair reading, when I lifted the book and this is what I saw on my lap. Taken: August 2018.
August 7, 2018 Pic of the Day: OK, I'm ready. When does this ride start? Taken: October 2015.
August 6, 2018 Pic of the Day: C'mon Corneliius, lets go for a drive. Taken: December 2003.
August 5, 2018 Pic of the Day: My smallest cat. She is 4 years old here and even now at 8 years old, only weighs about 6.5 pounds. She moves like a squirrel, and is very hard to get a picture of. I have dozens of pictures of her that are blurred. And yes, her whiskers do curl like that. Taken: March 2014.
August 4, 2018 Pic of the Day: My sweet girl Teddy. I actually still remember finding her as a stray kitten under a neighbor's car in 1988. I was just about to drive my girlfriend to work, and I heard a kitten crying. I went and got her. It stuns me that is just over 30 years ago right now. I think of Teddy often. Taken: Late Summer or Early Fall 1989.
August 3, 2018 Pic of the Day: I was trimming the front hedge, and had a feeling I was being watched. Taken: June 14, 2018
August 2, 2018 Pic of the Day: A summer afternoon on the back deck. Taken: July 3, 2005
August 1, 2018 Pic of the Day: When I lived in the country in Central Ontario, a neighbor's barn burned down. This mom cat and her 5 kittens suddenly became homeless just as winter was coming on. I gathered them up and took them in. In one day, I had 6 more cats. Taken: December 8, 2008
